What inspirational quotes are there for a tattoo to cover up a scar from an ex?

by on Feb.03, 2011, under tattoo

I have a scar on my wrist from a terrible ex-boyfriend and I want to get a tattoo over it that symbolizes something. Something like “What Doesn’t Kill Me, Makes Me Stronger”, quotes in other languages are also welcome.
Sorry if anyone misunderstood this but I meant an ACTUAL scar not emotional… I could care less that I lost him.
…so I’m looking for something that symbolizes my bad experience… not a whiney ex boyfriend quote.

Not all scars show, not all wounds heal Sometimes you can’t always see The pain someone feels.

      Look ahead, not back.

I’ve been looking up things. My mother says to get something like ‘True to Myself’ or ‘Move Forward’.

      I love

“Anyone can give up, it’s the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that’s true strength.”

How about, it’s not where you’re from, it’s where you’re at?

      Here is the thing:

Text has to be decently sized to keep it from turning into mush over the years. You are not going to be able to cram an entire quote onto your wrist without the whole thing marching up your arm. About all you will be able to fit on your wrist is a word or two.

I would also advise against getting a tattoo in a language you do not speak, as you will have no way of knowing for 100% certain if it actually says what you think it does. At least if it is in English you will know for sure. One of the common things you see is people downloading fonts online that are supposed to be “Japanese alphabets” and the characters are really just nonsense symbols, they don’t mean anything.

You would be much better served brainstorming a small image or a single word for this tattoo since you do not have much space to work within. You are better off assuming that a tattoo will be larger than you need it to be (for people who are inexperienced with tattoos this is usually true anyway).

      Good luck!

      Some of us think holding on makes us strong;
but sometimes it is letting go.
      is a good one
You could shorten it a bit by just saying “Holding on makes us strong, letting go makes us stronger.
This better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.
      is a good classic

      Good luck
