Is an 2008 honda civic an appropriate first car?

I'll be graduating this June from high school and I'll be getting a car for my graduation! I found a 2008 Honda civic LX coupe that I adore. It's sporty it's cute, and I'd like to be seen in it! Someone said it's a sports car but do insurance companies consider it a ''real sports car''? Anyways just wondering if you car people think it's a good first car. Thanks in advance!

Small auto auto insurance accident being made into a large deal?

by on Apr.04, 2010, under finance

Undecided Question

Small car accident being made into a large deal?

My boyfriend bumped into another car in a parking lot while driving his 65 year old mother's car. He is not insured under this car. The results of this were very slight scratches since one car was at a complete stop and the other was just starting to move. His mother is now receiving phone calls from this man saying there are large dents in his bumper and he wants a completely new bumper. She can neither afford to pay for his new bumper, nor afford to have her insurance go up. This man is taking advantage of the situation and I need to know if she is required to pay for the entire new bumper when there is minimal damage. (The reason I'm asking this question is because she's not really tech savy). Thanks in advance.

minor collison on base no proof of auto insurance on military base?

Minor collison on base no proof of insurance on military base?

An old man dinged my car while I was sitting in the car still parked. He got out of the car and immedietly first thing starts whining about his car (there was no damage to either car to be honest) and some witnesses were there, who told this dude to calm down, and they called security forces who came out an just said it really wasnt a big deal, for this old man to calm the hell down. So he started yelling that he wanted proof of my insurance, which is funny cause HE hit MY car and I was the calm one. SO, I didnt have proof of insurance. the cop said that everything looked ok, nothing illegaal happened, and it was just the parking lot,so he said he would fill out a report but just to show him proof of insurance by tomorrow so hopefully he doesnt have to give me a ticket.

so I called my company and paid everything up, but the policy doesnt start until tomorrow. his insurance company ALREADY called me today, and I told the the true story, that my car was still parked. But Im wanting to know once I show the insurance it will be obvious that I wasnt insured at the time, could I get into serious trouble, and even tho no one was issued a tiket and it was not my fault, can he try to get money out of me or something??

thanks in advance :(

Trying to move out, how to financially sustain myself.?

by on Apr.04, 2010, under finance

Undecided Question

Trying to move out, how to financially sustain myself.?

Ready to move out from home and start my life,(not on bad terms with family or anything its just im at that age/young 20's) im trying to determine whats a good job to look into where I could live in a one bedroom apartment, have internet access , auto insurance, and extra spending money on the side.
Preferably only a mon-fri job.
I do go to class mon and wed for an hour during the day.
Nights I dont mind just NO weekends. I have other obligations.

Im still in school so I dont have a degree.
What type of job should I look into?
And how much should I save up before I move out, I want to avoid debt and moving back in because I couldnt make it on my own.
Oh and suggestions for people that moved out from their parents, any advice
or hints from when you did it?

PS. Im an introverted individually and prefer a solitary lifestyle so no roommate suggestion, I didnt like it when I lived at a dorm either. Only roommate I would keep is an animal. :)

thanks in advance.

Anyone have any idea about auto auto insurance auto insurance companies?

Anyone have any idea about auto insurance companies?

My auto insurance renews on the 20th March and we currently have a Multicar policy with Admiral. Two cars are insured and me and my husband can drive both under fully comp cover.
My husband got 9 points (!) on his license in December 2008 and only since the renewal came through have I realised the points haven't been recorded on the insurance, this particular policy has never renewed until now as there was a problem with a direct debit not being taken which consequently cancelled the policy and we had to start a fresh one in March 09, but they just restarted the old one using the old info.
What I want to know is if I now tell Admiral about these points, will they penalise us in anyway? Can they backdate the premium that I should have been paying for the last 15 months and charge me this, or use any action against me because they were not told about the points?
I have no idea about insurance so I just want to know before I decide what to do as I may not even bother renewing with Admiral anyway.
Also, does anyone know any insurance companies who specialise in insuring people with points?
Many thanks in advance!

Get about $700 in a week and a half?

by on Apr.04, 2010, under finance

Undecided Question

Get about $700 in a week and a half?

Alright, here is the situation. I know someone who needs about $700 in a week and a half to pay for auto insurance. This person has no credit history so a loan isnt feasible. Everybody the person knows has said no to lending them money or co-signing a loan. I was reading about cash advances on credit cards and was wondering if getting a credit card and getting a cash advance is a feasible idea. Obviously they'd be in debt temporarily. Other details include the person is a student in college working part time. The other idea that seems doable is one of those "no credit check automatic loan" type of things. The problem with them is how trustworthy they are. If anyone has some sort of recommendations short of winning the lottery, it would be greatly appreciated. And let's just say there is more importance to the subject than just having the bill paid. Thanks in advance!

Does your auto auto insurance auto insurance go up if you get a parking ticket?

by on Apr.04, 2010, under finance

Does your auto insurance go up if you get a parking ticket?

I was just being dumb today and I parked in a neighborhood where you can't park. I accept the fact that I was in the wrong and all that. The fine is $80. What I'm most concerned with is whether or not it will increase my auto insurance rate. My first thought was no, because it was a parking violation, not a driving violation. But considering how crazy auto insurance companies are, I just am not sure. Any help? Thanks in advance.
