Kate Gosselin is firing back after her ex husband Jon Gosselin claimed she doesn’t spend enough quality time with their eight kids and announced plans to sue for primary physical custody.

“I am not willing to comment in public on the custody discussions regarding my children,” Gosselin says in a new statement. “What I will say is this: I am and always will be a mother first, but as a single working mom, I will do everything necessary to provide for my kids despite the opinions of others.”

Jon’s laywer tells PEOPLE that Kate is an “absentee parent,” citing her current stint on Dancing with the Stars which shoots in Los Angeles. “He wants equal say with custody, equal time, but if the circumstances remain as they are, with Kate being rarely home, Jon wants primary custody of the children,” says Anthony List Sr.

Meanwhile, Kate’s lawyer Mark Momjian tells PEOPLE he has not received a formal filing yet but that “our client is a devoted mother who loves her children very much.”

Kate, 35, is about to start a publicity campaign for her new book, I Just Want You To Know: Letters to My Kids on Love, Faith and Family, which is set to be released on April 13.

Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock has broken her silence during her marriage crisis, denying an Internet report there’s a sex tape with her and husband Jesse James.

“There is no sex tape,” she says in a statement to PEOPLE on Tuesday. “There never has been one and there never will be one.”

Until now, Bullock, 45, had not commented, remaining in seclusion since reports surfaced that James, 40, allegedly had cheated on her with at least four other women.

Bullock has been in touch with a close circle of friends, including comedian George Lopez, who visited her for a second time on Monday.

She spoke out in response to an online report that James possesses a graphic sex tape which he could possibly use as leverage in a divorce case.

Trouble for Katy Perry and fiancé Russell Brand?

No way, say their friends, unless you count Perry’s recent flirtations with a redhead who’s good with children and tickles her fancy.

The singer tweeted giddily last week about her time on the Sesame Street set, saying she just might be falling for Elmo.

“Sunny day today! I think I’m in love … Sorry (Russell)!!!” she wrote on Twitter, posting a photo of her with her arm around the muppet.

Other than that, Perry couldn’t be more in love with Brand, pals tell PEOPLE, dismissing British tabloid reports that Brand is tiring of commitment.

“They’re very busy but very much together and in love and supportive of each other’s careers,” a friend tells PEOPLE, adding that Brand, 34, has inspired Perry’s forthcoming CD. “Because of her relationship with Russell and how in love they are, she’s making the best music of her career.”

Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato

Though they’ve only recently admitted they’re dating, Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas are already one of those couples who finish each other’s sentences.

“He has this thing where he tries to say everything that’s coming out of my mouth,” Lovato tells Radio Disney’s Ernie D, laughing. “But yeah, he doesn’t know what I’m about to say.”

Lovato and Jonas, who performed the duet “Make a Wave” on American Idol Wednesday, met on the set of Camp Rock in 2007, and Lovato toured with the Jonas Brothers the following year. The two quickly became best friends.

Lovato, 17, admits that she and Jonas, 20, are accident-prone and have to avoid props like stairs when they’re onstage.

“We’re like the two clumsiest people ever,” she says.

But when it comes to vanity, Jonas has one over on his girlfriend, he confesses. When asked who spends more time in the makeup chair, the heartthrob replies, “I do.”

Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock has not been looking for a divorce lawyer – and neither has husband Jesse James, their reps tell PEOPLE.

TMZ reported Tuesday the actress’s representatives “had been in touch with several high-end divorce lawyers,” while James’s reps had “contacted several lawyers” in case Bullock filed for divorce following his reported infidelity.

Bullock’s rep tells PEOPLE: “Neither she nor her representatives have contacted or shopped around for divorce lawyers.”

James’s rep says the report was untrue.

Bullock’s rep also denied an Internet report that on Sunday night Bullock – who has moved out of the family home and has been lying low in the wake of the infidelity news – dined with producers to discuss an upcoming project in which she would play Meryl Streep’s daughter.

“The entire report,” says the rep, “is another piece of fiction.”

Reggie Bush and Kim Kardashian

The couple, who started dating in 2007 and broke up briefly in 2009, haven’t ended things – but they are taking a step back in their relationship.

“They are trying to decide what to do right now,” a source tells PEOPLE. “Reggie has issues with her busy life and schedule and she can’t give it all up.”

But this couple isn’t calling it quits yet.

On Monday, Bush flew to Miami and spent the day with Kardashian. Says the source: “It was super cool between them.”

After reconciling in Sept. 2009, Kardashian told PEOPLE that her time apart from Bush would ultimately help them grow stronger as a couple. “I think sometimes people need to take a break just to take time off to see how much they need each other and how much they really are compatible,” she said at the time. “We just made the decision that we want to make it work, and the time off was really beneficial for the both of us.”

Kardashian subsequently bought a house for herself in Beverly Hills, and the couple considered moving in together.

“She’s totally happy and fine with everything,” the source says. “Kim and Reggie are best friends; they really are. It’s just more that he can’t deal with her life and all the fame she’s gotten. She and Reggie started dating before she even had her show. They are working on seeing what they both want.”

Reps for both Bush and Kardashian did not return calls for comment.

The actor and wife Holly have adopted a baby girl, the couple tell PEOPLE exclusively. The Burrells are keeping further details private at this time.

Earlier this month, Burrell, 42, told PEOPLE that one of his favorite aspects of playing Phil Dunphy on the cult comedy is how much the character cares about his kids. “He’s not necessarily good at the things that he does,” the actor laughs, “but he really tries hard!”

Danica McKellar and her husband of one year, Mike Verta, are expecting their first child this fall.

“I’m nearing the end of my first trimester and I’m so excited – I’ve been bursting to tell people,” says McKellar, 35, who played Winnie on The Wonder Years, tells PEOPLE exclusively.

However, she originally put off confirming her suspicions. “I was in the middle of a really intense deadline for my book,” explains McKellar, whose third tome, Hot X: Algebra Exposed, comes out in August.

“I wanted to put off the [pregnancy] test because I didn’t want any distractions. That only lasted a day – I couldn’t stop thinking about it and I caved! You can’t try to put that off.”

Initially, even McKellar herself couldn’t believe the news. “When you do take the home pregnancy test, it doesn’t quite seem real,” notes the mathematician and mom-to-be. “But when you see the baby and the heartbeat on the ultrasound, it’s so incredible.”

“Me and Mike looked at each other and we could not stop the tears,” she says. “We are so happy.”

Just six months after losing her 16-year-old son Jett last January, Kelly Preston quietly decided to return to work by starring in The Last Song.

She made the decision “because Miley [Cyrus] asked me herself to play her mom,” Preston, 47, tells PEOPLE. “I was really moved. It was the perfect movie to sort of get my feet wet.”

As they filmed the Nicholas Sparks drama in Tybee Island, Ga., last summer, “Julie Anne [Robinson, the director], Adam [Shankman, the producer] and Miley took such great care of me,” says Preston, who brought her daughter Ella Bleu, 9, along for the trip. “They were wonderful with my schedule. I just worked a little bit.”

But she spent a lot of time bonding with Cyrus off screen. “We’ve been friends for awhile,” Cyrus told PEOPLE in January. “We got even closer on this movie so it was cool to spend the summer with people you really like.”

“I love her so much,” Preston says of her costar. “She’s such a good girl.”

The Last Song hits theaters March 31.

“I try to keep [life] as simple as I can,” Alves, 27, tells PEOPLE in a new interview. “I try to keep it as calm as I can.”

As a mom to son Levi, 20 months, and daughter Vida, 9 weeks, Alves is juggling motherhood, her career as a handbag designer, her relationship with McConaughey and her latest gig, as host of Bravo’s Shear Genius. It’s that anything-goes mentality that keeps her sane. “The word ‘stress,’ I don’t believe in that,” she says.

In fact, she’s reveling in motherhood – and enjoying watching her kids grow up. “Every stage they go through, it is something different and new and exciting,” she says of her kids. “Levi’s so much fun! He’s just into everything. He’s repeating everything … putting words together.”
