Tip 1: Do lots… and lots… of tattoo design research.

There are women’s tattoo ideas aplenty on the internet these days, so there’s no excuse to rush into getting the first design you see. Make sure you do plenty of research on websites that offer design galleries, get a second opinion, and think of the long-term when choosing which one to go for.

Tip 2: Don’t let anyone else decide for you!

It might be overwhelming when you look at online galleries offering women’s tattoo ideas, and it might seem easier just to follow the advice of a partner or the tattoo artist when it comes down to the final design selection. Don’t listen to them! It’s your body, and it’ll be with you for a long time yet, so don’t let the influence of another person’s opinion sway the decision too strongly.

Tip 3: Remain clear-headed when dealing with tattoos.

My own tattoo artist loves to tell the story of a girl who’d done tonnes of design research on the internet on women’s tattoo ideas, but who showed up to her appointment drunk beyond belief (first time nerve tonic!). She was so angry when he refused to ink her that she threatened to sue him, and he had to call the Police. But if she’d gotten confused about which was the final choice from all the women’s tattoo ideas, or regretted it later, or been unhappy with his work – it’s seriously professionally dangerous to work on someone who’s intoxicated.

I don’t even need to explain why refusing to have work done by a drunk tattoo artist is also a bad idea, I hope!

Tip 4: Choose a great tattoo artist.

Choose a tattoo artist who you’ve met before, who meets all the legal and hygiene requirements for your state, and who makes you feel confident and comfortable. When you turn up to his studio with a sheet of women’s tattoo ideas, you need to have confidence in his skill and professionalism – and when you find him (or her!), you’ll know it.

Never be afraid to shop around for a great tattoo artist if you have any doubts about any aspect of an artist’s abilities.

Tip 5: Get aftercare advice from your tattoo artist, and ignore everyone else.

Once you’ve found a really great tattoo artist that ticks all the boxes, you’ll probably attend an appointment to go through all the women’s tattoo ideas that you have, with examples printed out. Once you go through with it, make sure that you follow the artist’s advice down to the letter, and ignore any friends, relatives or colleagues that think they know better – often their advice is out of date, no matter how well intentioned it is.

The actress, who has nearly 2-year-old daughter Honor Marie with husband Cash Warren, spoke about wanting a bigger family on Sunday night’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, in which she helps rebuild a home for a Texas foster family of 15.

“If you have the love, and the capacity to love children, you should just adopt. And I plan on doing it, ” says Alba, 28, who most recently appeared in Valentine’s Day.

She adds: “My mom grew up around a huge family, and they always wanted more kids, and I was like, ‘Why don’t you just adopt?’ ”

When Miley Cyrus first became a huge tween star, her mom, Tish, made her promise one thing: To live at home until she’s at least 20.

“I got out of that!” Cyrus, 17, recently told PEOPLE with a laugh. “I’m actually buying a place. I haven’t moved in yet. I’m still reconstructing and stuff.”

Her mother’s reaction? “She’s stoked,” says Cyrus, who adds that her new home is “really, really close” to her family’s current Toluca Lake, Calif., residence.

“My house is going to be gorgeous because my mom is an interior designer,” says Cyrus, whose new film The Last Song is in theatres now. “It’s like if your mom’s a clothes designer you’re always going to look great. My mom’s an interior designer so my house is going to be perfect all the time.”

The star decided to create “a really zen” space for her first home. “We did all these different things to make it a place that’s so chill,” she says. “Like all my couches are on the floor and I have pillows on the floor. It’s just serene – like my own kind of therapy.”

“My religion is love,” adds Cyrus, “so my door is always open for anyone who wants to come in. It’s a just a loving place.”

Miley Cyrus’s boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, opened the door to the pop singer’s heart – literally.

When the couple, who have been dating about 10 months, first met on the Tybee Island, Georgia, set of The Last Song, “he opened the door for me,” Cyrus tells Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen DeGeneres Show set to air March 31. “I was like, I have been in L.A. for three years and I don’t think any guy has actually opened the door for me.”

That polite gesture made quite the impression on the 17-year-old: “I was like, wow, that is super impressive. I actually turned to the director and said, ‘He’s got the job.’ He’s hot and he opened the door. Excellent.”

There were some early stumbling blocks, admitted Cyrus, who said she was taking a hiatus from dating when she met the Australian actor, 20.

“We started filming and at one point the chemistry was kind of awkward,” she said. “We were both like, I liked him a little bit, he liked me a little bit but it was awkward.”

But Cyrus finally informed Hemsworth: “Okay, you’re going to be my boyfriend,” and it’s been a smooth ride ever since – so much so that DeGeneres presented the happy couple with a set of bikes.
