The actress, who has nearly 2-year-old daughter Honor Marie with husband Cash Warren, spoke about wanting a bigger family on Sunday night’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, in which she helps rebuild a home for a Texas foster family of 15.

“If you have the love, and the capacity to love children, you should just adopt. And I plan on doing it, ” says Alba, 28, who most recently appeared in Valentine’s Day.

She adds: “My mom grew up around a huge family, and they always wanted more kids, and I was like, ‘Why don’t you just adopt?’ ”

“I got out of that!” Cyrus, 17, recently told PEOPLE with a laugh. “I’m actually buying a place. I haven’t moved in yet. I’m still reconstructing and stuff.”

Her mother’s reaction? “She’s stoked,” says Cyrus, who adds that her new home is “really, really close” to her family’s current Toluca Lake, Calif., residence.

“My house is going to be gorgeous because my mom is an interior designer,” says Cyrus, whose new film The Last Song is in theatres now. “It’s like if your mom’s a clothes designer you’re always going to look great. My mom’s an interior designer so my house is going to be perfect all the time.”

The star decided to create “a really zen” space for her first home. “We did all these different things to make it a place that’s so chill,” she says. “Like all my couches are on the floor and I have pillows on the floor. It’s just serene – like my own kind of therapy.”

“My religion is love,” adds Cyrus, “so my door is always open for anyone who wants to come in. It’s a just a loving place.”

When the couple, who have been dating about 10 months, first met on the Tybee Island, Georgia, set of The Last Song, “he opened the door for me,” Cyrus tells Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen DeGeneres Show set to air March 31. “I was like, I have been in L.A. for three years and I don’t think any guy has actually opened the door for me.”

That polite gesture made quite the impression on the 17-year-old: “I was like, wow, that is super impressive. I actually turned to the director and said, ‘He’s got the job.’ He’s hot and he opened the door. Excellent.”

There were some early stumbling blocks, admitted Cyrus, who said she was taking a hiatus from dating when she met the Australian actor, 20.

“We started filming and at one point the chemistry was kind of awkward,” she said. “We were both like, I liked him a little bit, he liked me a little bit but it was awkward.”

But Cyrus finally informed Hemsworth: “Okay, you’re going to be my boyfriend,” and it’s been a smooth ride ever since – so much so that DeGeneres presented the happy couple with a set of bikes.

“Agents say that everyone thinks when you are doing a series, you aren’t available,” the actress said at the South By Southwest festival this week. “Not true. I feel like it has been hard for me as far as films to get more of the leading parts.”

Sevigny attended the Austin-based film festival for the premieres of two of her upcoming movies, Barry Munday and Mr. Nice.

Still, it’s her role on Big Love that has fans clamoring to get close to the actress. “I am surprised by how many people react to the show, how many people come up to me in the streets,” she says. “Such a wide range of people find things they love about it.”

So, how does she find the time film movies while also doing a series? “Hiatus,” she says. “We shot Barry Munday two years ago and then on my last hiatus shot Mr. Nice.”

Despite her desire to land more leading roles, she says she’s not pushing too hard. “I am not that ambitious in plotting my life out,” she says. “I always believed in fate. If it doesn’t happen, it wasn’t meant to. I don’t know if that is me being lazy or justifying the way things happen. But it has always worked for me.”

The South By Southwest film festival, now in its 16th year, runs through March 20.

Marie Osmond Returning to Stage a Day After Son’s Funeral

“It is important for Marie and her children to get back to a routine that is comfortable for all of them and be together as much as possible,” a close friend tells PEOPLE. “They’re all together and doing their best to return to work and school.”

All 720 tickets for the show at the Flamingo Las Vegas were snapped up. The hit show took a temporary break after Michael committed suicide on Feb. 26 in Los Angeles.

“The fans have been so wonderfully supportive of her throughout this tragic time and thanks to them and the love and support of her family and faith, Marie is just trying to get through this very sad time,” the family friend says.

It wasn’t known how – or whether – Osmond or her brother Donny would address Michael’s death, though the 90-minute show does feature several portions of ad-libbing.

A Flamingo Las Vegas source says the hotel has been flooded with requests from people inquiring on where to send flowers and well wishes. “Everyone has really been rooting for her,” the source says.

Flamingo Las Vegas announced that there will be five extra show dates from April 13-17 to accommodate those who had tickets to recently canceled shows.

Ahh..another car question, sorry trying to do some "homework" haha.

I was wondering..I have driven a cobalt before..love it..I'm thinking about getting one for my first car..I've found a few that I'm interested in..

Would this be an expensive car to insure for a 16 year old Female? I know the prices vary from state to state, but what would be a good "estamate" for this car's insurance rate????

Hey, I'm about to buy a used car pretty soon, my first, and I'm really torn between the two. I love the Mustang because it's really stylish, fits my personality, good on gas, and well I just love it, but I'm also considering the 4Runner because I like being higher off the ground, it has four doors, and it would be better on the road for when the weather gets bad. I asked for an insurance quote for the both of them and the monthly payments would be about the same, that didn't help lol.. Anyway, tell me whatcha think I should buy!!!

What should I do stay in the relationship or finally give up?

I have been in this long distance relationship for 5 yrs, about 2years ago he proposed to me. We have had our differences and still do, I go to college and he doesnt, he lives a reckless life but is a great guy, I want so much more but I also want him. It just becomes harder to stay strong in this relationship, its hard to balance my life between school, work, him and my family. we see eachother almost every weekend or everyother, most of the time I pay for everything cuz his paycheck is just enough to pay his rent and auto insurance, most of the time he cant even keep his phone on, thats a huge problem, its the onlyway to communicate and he cant even afford to pay the phone bill, I try very hard to control my feelings and understand his situation, but I dont know how far this can keep going. Problem is that I love him so much but I am so tired of this long distance I want something normal, but the only way to do it is to either switch schools and move in with him and live on a very tight budget, stress a million times more and leave my mother who I live with now. That is obviously not the choice I want to make but I dont want to break up with him either, he seems not stress the situation as much as me all he wants to do is get married and move in together soon but I dont want just yet. and I feel so bad because I feel like we deserve other people besides ourselves, anyother girl would have dropped everything to go be by his side but not me. Should i just ask for space and break up ?
