Dont know how it happend, but all of a sudden, whenever I started using my caps lock key it would tab me out whatever program I was currently using, which can be quite annoying. How do I stop this?

Im currently using a Dell Studio 15.

First up, here's some (maybe important) information:

Windows XP
UK Laptop – But currently in Japan
Local Area connection (not wireless)
Speed: 100mbps (supposedly- average download speed of 150kbps)

Basically, when I download or stream anything over the internet (especially if I do both at the same time), my conection will cut out. BUT, according to Windows I'm still connected, my modem still recognizes Im connected yet no web pages will load and my downloads will drop. Downloads tend to cut out like clockwork (ie, a 500mb+ file around the 75% mark). Streaming seems to be random.

I've had my modem replaced, and new wires installed, yet no change. Now I'm thinking its got to be my laptop, it cuts out as if there some kind of fail-safe cut off point?

Im no computer buff, so if anyone can help I'll be eternally grateful

History:
My Laptop won't boot-up after i created a partition Z:\ and moved some of my files to it.
One of the file i moved was something named "SWSetup" i think to Z:\…
then moved some of my personal files to Z:\..
then saved a copy of a Windows XP installer CD at Z:\..

Problem:
My Laptop won't start up and it only stops with a blank screen with a beeping "Underline" in it..
I can't type a word or any command with it… it just keeps on beeping…

please help…

I recently got cable internet the other day, and when I plugged my laptop directly into the cable modem the internet didn't work. The network connection says "Limited or No Connection" At first I thought it was a problem with the computer. I took it over to a friends house and plugged it into his internet (same provider) and it worked fine. I called the cable company, who came out and plugged one of their computers into my modem, and the internet worked for them. The cable guy then told me, in order for my internet to work on my computer, I have to use a router. Does this sound a little fishy? I'm not a network or IT professional, but I never heard of such a thing..

What are the pros and cons of a Windows 7 laptop vs Macbook*?

I'm familiar with both operating systems. I'm a future Nursing/Biblical Studies college student.

- I want something durable and long lasting
- Mostly internet and word processing
- Good ram
- Good battery life
- Lightweight preferable
- $1,200 is the max (cheap is still good)

Highly Optional
- Photo editing software
- Video editing software
- Blueray/DvD

(*Not Macbook Pro; I can't afford that)

hi i m trying to access parallel port through matlab but matlab is not able to recognize the parallel port(i m using usb2parallel port converter for parallel port as i m doing this in laptop)

im running xp home & theres a problem with the configuration it seems, id like to remove all of it from files as simply removing from add remove wont do it completely. thankyou for your help.

on my laptop i have windows 7 home premium 64 bit, mostly using Google chrome (latest update as far is know)

sometimes, i go to youtube and attempt to watch a video, but chrome freezes, and after a bit, it says 'would you like to end the non responsive plug-in: shock wave' it also does this on videos on other websites. it also happens in internet explorer

and i believe that the second issue is related, as it happens at the same time the youtube 1

itunes, windows media player (though it opens, but nothing will play) and windows live messenger (maybe more) wont open at all, in task manager there process is running, but nothing appears.

i have plenty of system resources (2.1GHz dual core CPU, 4GB RAM [which 2GB is usually free], plenty of HDD space)

the only way to 'fix' this is to do a restart of my laptop. and as you would imagine, its frustrating, as im, talking to people on messenger, looking at several different things on the net. and then any flash videos dont work, and itunes wont open. **as i said, it just randomaly happens, so usually everythin is fine

I had Windows XP Home edition already installed in my laptop when i purchased it. So i didn't get the Windows XP CD along.

Now the hard disk is crashed. I am planning to purchase a new hard disk. But i don't know how to install Windows XP without CD.
