If you are working for state farm auto insurance agency/office/branch?
by admin on Apr.05, 2010, under finance
Undecided Question
If you are working for state farm insurance agency/office/branch?
I am planning to work with one of the state farm agency ( From the research each agency is own & run independently, Please let me know if I am wrong) I am going in as sales position, so here is some of the questions I have in my mind.
1) What is my position called? Just a sales associate, CSR, agent?
2) I just recently found out state farm has Banking Side as well, would I able to sell bank product, auto loan & mortgage as well if I have knowledge? or Do I need to go through some sort of licensing with state farm?
3) This is where I am getting most confused. Even though owner of the agency office owner is hiring, it seems like you still have to go through state farm hiring process (which is fine with me), but it seems like If you work for agent office, you are just considered as agent Staff and are you a just a employee of the owner or the agency/office? or are you still considered as state farm employee?
4) If I could, I would like to sell everything (insurance, banking product, investments) state farm could offer to a client. would the state farm let you have that opportunities? (I do understand there might be licensing requirements)
5) when they say we do pay base (which I am not expecting much since it is sales position, I am just worried at the beginning of my career with state farm to able to cover my basic needs ) what is the avg base am I expecting for sales position?
6) Lastly, selling what product has the most compensation in state farm?
I been had really tough time since losing my job last year and Thank you guys for reading through long questionnaire. Hope I could get some of those questions answered by who are in insurance industry or who are/has worked for state farm. Thank you once again.

In a Financial Pickle need advice bad!?
I am in a situation that I really need help/advice on which path to take. Last year around Feb./March, me and my brother decided to switch cars, both which were and still are under auto loans, one being a 2001 Audi TT(which was my brothers, but is mine after the switch) and a 2006 Eclipse(which was mine until the switch to my brother). We both agreed that we would pay each others loan payment on time. Well about the beginning of summer last year my brother blew the clutch in the Eclipse. He got it fixed and all was well. At the mid of the summer of last year my brother yet again blew the clutch and flywheel. He put it in a shop to be looked at, and after finding out that he had to pay to fix the clutch and flywheel again, he went out and bought another car instead of fixing the Eclipse. About the beginning of August, I start getting calls from the loan place for the Eclipse stating that it is two months behind on payments. My brother, also my roommate, told me he lost his job and was in the process of finding another so that he could catch up on the payments and fix the car, and asked if I could help him out. I said no problem as I didn't want a repo to happen in my name. After awhile my brother got a job and was making a few monthly payments, with help form me here and there. About mid December I get two calls, one from the loan place for the Eclipse and the shop in which my brother has let the car sit for close to 6 months without staying in touch with the mechanic, and had accrued a $3,000 storage fee for just letting it sit there. The loan place says that the car is 3 months behind in payments ,and somehow learned that the Eclipse was in the shop for 6 months, had threatened me with a Repo. Me not wanting a repo on my credit, franticly made a deal with the loan place to pay the three months, and to get the car out of the shop. I paid the three months payment for the Eclipse, and was able to talk the mechanic from $3,000 to $300 (I kinda knew the guy, and let him know the situation), and took it to another shop. I took the car from my brother, because he does not have a steady job to make the payments or to get the car fixed. The shop quoted me $3,000 for the car to be fixed. On top of all this mess, I get a letter from the Eclipse loan place stating that insurance has not been kept on the car, so they added their coverage( 2 x $2,700 ) to the loan, which drastically raised the monthly payment.
I have kept up on my half of the bargain and still pay and drive the Audi, as it is my only means of transportation. I do have a family to support, and with the drastic jump in monthly payments on the Eclipse as well as the $3,000 mechanic fee, I am unable to afford it. I am unsure what legal action I have as me and my brother did not sign anything. What should I do. Should I bite the bullet and do a volunteer repo of the Eclipse and be forced with the fees since the car is in my name, or is there any legal action that I can take to have my brother take responsibility for his own mess?
I'm getting screwed over by my auto auto insurance company?

I'm getting screwed over by my auto insurance company?
I had full coverage through Geico, and they had the car towed to a body shop, where they decied to total the car out – I wanted to keep it, but the adjuster pushed me to total it out instead (the seats and top come to over $10k in damages). They towed the car to their facility, and then sent me a letter stating that they'd found me "0% at fault" and that my settlement would be in the range of $13k.
Then, they found out I was unemployed, and had me interviewed by a "special investigator" who was a raging ****** who more or less accused me of committing fraud. They took three recorded statements from me and tried to trip me up wherever possible – which didn't work since I have nothing to hide. I was unemployed for a month, got a job again, have no criminal record, haven't ever filed a claim, etc. but they then started dragging their feet and demanded that I provide them with six months of bank statements, six months of cell phone records, and my previous insurance policy number – everything other than the insurance policy number seems very intrusive and unnecessary.
I've tried compromising with them, and they're not having any of it. Should I contact an attorney?
