I applied for DSHS health insurance last week and they haven't mailed me my papers yet so I don't have insurance yet! what do I do?! will the doctor even see me until the insurance is through? Or if I call the DSHS office and tell them I'm pregnant will they get the papers through faster? I had an auto-immune disease that almost killed me a little over a year ago and I'm worried that I'm not going to be able to keep this baby alive because of all of my health problems, so I really want to see the doctor as soon as possible. What should I do?

I was involved in a car accident back in October. I wasn't at fault. I went to the hospital and was treated that day. I've recently come to learn that the other driver (who was at fault in the accident) didn't carry insurance. So, I'm stuck with a bill for 20% of my hospital note. I can't afford this. I unfortunately have no health insurance. I spoke to the hospital about my financial aid options and they simply told me they won't do anything significant for me because I carried insurance (state minimum auto.) One claims representative told me the most help they could give me was a 25% discount while another told me the most help they could give me was a 40% discount. I feel like they're pulling me in many different directions.
Now, 25 and 40 percent are a big reliefs but I still can't afford a 75 or 60 percent payment. I'm stuck against a wall as I can either pay my hospital bill or pay my mortgage. I have a family of 3 and we only make $10,000 above the poverty limit of $17,345. We live in Florida and we don't know what we can do in this situation. There must be other options for people like us.

So by boyfriend and I were in this accident and his auto insurance only pays up to $100,000 for the passengers injuries. Considering it was an auto accident, legally my health insurance doesn't have to touch it. We have a lawyer but I want an opinion before the time that we meet with him. He wants to get $250,000 for pain and suffering, current bills, and future problems. If we do this, anything over the $100K will come out of my boyfriend's pocket. However, if we do sue him, he's going to file bankruptcy. All he has in his name is a $2,000 truck and a $10K motorcycle, which will be taken. Will we get out 250K if he files for bankruptcy or will we just get what he has in value in his name?
Please help this is killing me.
I'm far too young to understand and make a decision like this.

I live in Colorado, USA. Recently, while driving a rental car, I met with an accident. I was at fault for the accident. One of my friend was traveling during the accident. And he got whiplashed because of the accident. He took the treatment, diagonosis and approached his healthcare provider to claim for the expenses incurred for the treatment. My friend's healthcaare provider processed it initially. However, he they have got back now and queried about this accident information and why it was claimed when this must be covered by driver's auto -insurance, i.e., me.

Please note that as a driver, I was insured with auto insurance which covers sufficient BI, CD. I did not choose for 'Medical Coverage' as part of auto insurance policy. (as I had health insurance to take care). So, in this case, since he was traveling in the same vehicle which met with accident and I was driving it, I am wondering :

1) how will my auto insurance policy cover it, as BI?

2) If my auto insurance policy denies it on the ground that the claim person is driving in the same vehicle, will his health care provider be taking care of?

I would really appreciate any kind of information around this.

I cannot afford health insurance at the moment. Is it going to be mandatory to have it just like auto insurance?

My friend doesn't have any life insurance, dental insurance, homeowners/renters insurance, health insurance or auto insurance .

Do you think that after Obama signs a law assuring that my friend will get health insurance, will Obama also sign a law assuring that my friend will get dental insurance + life insurance + homeowners/renters insurance + auto insurance ?

i for one am a little sick of paying 140 a month for having never gotten in a wreck in my life.

on a side note, anyone who is against health insurance reform should be ashamed of themselves, under the same principle.

Republicans are arguing this is unconstitutional. wouldn't states requiring you to have auto insurance, undre penalty of prison, also be unconstitutional?

If you don'y buy insurance, and you don't qualify for a subsidized plan, and if you aren't poor, you face a tax penalty of $750.

However, if you buy a house, your taxes can go down by way more than $750. In a way, anyone who deosn't own a house is paying a tax penalty right now. Does this mean that the government currently forces us to buy houses?
