Can I have a protein shake even if I'm not aiming for muscle?

I'm planning on having a protein shake for 3 mornings a week because for 3 days a week, that's when I'm exercising for an hour. My exercises do not consist of muscle building however. More like cardio/weight loss. Can I still have those protein shakes (hopefully to aid with weight loss, stop hunger and also to give me energy)?

I'm also curious… what if I didn't exercise those days? Is having a protein shake bad?

Saddle bags!!! are they here to stay?

I am 38 and have been faithfully been going to the gym for the past 3 years. I sweat my @*** off and really work hard. I run 3 miles 4-5 times a week, ride the bike 3 times a week for 30 minutes…10 miles(i try and beat my time and make it under 30 minutes) I do weight training for my whole body 4-5 days a week.
I have noticed a change in my whole body except…for my saddle bags.
I KNOW targeted weight loss is hard but there must be an exercise I can do to try and reduce them, even if it is just a little. I know i will never have skinny legs, thats not how I am built.

So…I need some exercises to do to try and reduce my petruding thigh area. I have been doing squats and lunges with weights and am dieting to loose a few. Iknow it is fat so I must loose for them to go down BUT…need to do the right exercise. Any tips/suggestions?
My husband said to get a job and save to get them sucked out….lol. He sees how hard I am working and thinks there is not much else I can do…is there?

Thoughts on this diet?

Breakfast- small bowl of Cheerios, banana

Snack 1- Orange/apple/other fruit

Snack 2- Cookie/Chips

Snack/small meal (3-4 PM)- leftovers/carrot sticks/fruit

Small dinner (evening)

This is based on the whole "several small meals a day" rather than 3 meals a day principle. What do you think? Is weight loss possible (with exercise of course) ? Should I change the food choices?

How do i tone my body at the gym..?

I'm a 19 year old female, i weight approximately 165 and i'm about 5'5" – 5'6".

I used to weigh 125 in 2008 and am looking to acheive my goal of going back to that since i gained about 40 lbs within these past 2 years.

I go to the gym about 5-6 days a week for about 2-3 hours. I normally do the treadmill for 30 minutes, then from there i go to the bikes for an additional 30 minutes. After that i go to whatever else i can handle that day, such as lifting 5-8 lb weights for about 10-15 minutes, then i may attempt to do the elliptical for about 10 minutes if i still have energy. The one exercise i refuse to do is lunges, i always seem to hurt my legs or i just get too lightheaded.

I have terrible cellulite on my hamstrings and my inner thighs, mostly by both my knees that i find highly embarassing. I want to lose my cellulite preferably before summer so i can feel comfortable in shorts again, but i don't know what i'm doing wrong. I drink plenty of water, and eat small portions of food eg. special k bar, rice krispie cereal for breakfast, a bagel w. strawberry cream cheese. Those are mostly my cravings — i'm not sure if that's terrible or not?

Can someone please help me out, i'm at loss here.

Weight loss too quick? Help!?

I've been on a diet for the past three weeks or so. I'm eating very healthy, with 8+ servings of fresh fruits and veggies a day, whole grains (quinoa, oats, bulgur, etc). I eat organic eggs, beans, nuts, dairy, with the occasional serving of fish or seafood (about 2-3 times a week, I don't eat meat other than fish). If I feel I haven't eaten enough fat in the day (I track my eating), I usually will dip a piece of bread in a tablespoon of olive oil. I eat anywhere from 1400-1700 calories a day, depending on what I eat.

I don't exercise a lot, though I do walk at least 30 minutes per day with my daily activities. I've also had weekly indulgences, (such as a cookie, piece of pizza, a few beers with friends one night), and I one small treat a day.

Before my diet, I'd usually eat like this, but I had a bad problem with snacking. When I started, I weighed 190 pounds, and now I'm already down to 180, three weeks later. Is this healthy? I want to be as healthy as possible, and I figured I was only going to lose 5-6 pounds per month, but I've near doubled that. I've also heard that weight loss will also go a lot faster in the beginning and then level out.

Help or advice?

Help with weight loss …?

Hi
I am under 18 and i am 5'1 weighing 148 lbs
Clearly i am overweight & i have hypo-thyroid.
I am sick and tired of asking doctors and them telling me to do diet and exercise.
Seriously im upset and hopeless.
I do about 60-70 mins exercise (high school gym class)
and before summer comes i just want to lose weight and belly fat and thighs.
Please can anyone give me suggestion of what weight/fat products to use that will help me.

Eating to little????

Ok, im trying to lose weight but i guess eat too small. Im really not a hungry person. The reason im fat is because im a computer geek and don't do any exercise. So my question is if i eat little will it hurt my weight loss?

Celiac Disease………………………………

Celiac Disease…………………..…

I have been experiencing some symptoms lately so I did a little research and everything I have seems to point to Celiac Disease. The thing is, I've read many doctors are reluctant to test for it, and most dismiss it as symptoms of IBS. I really don't think it is IBS. Anyone who has Celiac Disease or has dealt with it, could you tell me if my symptoms sound similar to those of Celiac Disease (sorry if it is TMI by the way)?

Mucus in stool
Soft, generally shapeless stool
Constipation (sometimes diarrhea, but that is usually when I eat dairy (Never diagnosed lac. intol.))
Weight loss (went from 147-135 without change in diet or exercise)
Bruising (unexplained)
Fatigue
Frequent headaches
Rashes (I have had rashes in the past that my doctor told me were fungal rashes, I haven't had one lately though; blotchy and red but generally not itchy)

Could this be Celiac Disease, and if so, how do I get my doctor to consider testing me for it (and not just give me the brush off)?

A good weight loss aid/supplement to help boost metabolism…naturally safely?

I am a mom just trying to lose 5-7 pounds, struggling to find the time to exercise but I WILL do it. I do not want a fad diet or anything like that, just wondering if anyone can recommend a multivitamin or product that is safe, natural, good for you, to help maybe just give my metabolism a bit of boost or whatever.
