My car was impounded without my consent. what should I do?

Hello, I am currently twenty two years old and purchased my first car, a silver 2001 Hyundai Elantra last year around Aug of 2008 from a private owner. I first saw this car sitting in a gas station parking lot right off of banister road with a for sale sign placed in the window. I asked questions about the vehicle and eventually went on to purchasing it. I registered the car, paid for insurance threw AAA, and American Family. I have license plates in which I recently updated not to long ago.

On the 7th of January, I had a car accident, which resulted in a total loss of my car. Gratefully I was not at fault, and the other driver had insurance. The Car is no longer drive able, and was towed to Richards Auto Salon in Grandview Missouri Threw lazer Tow Company. A day after the accident, both my and the other drivers insurance companies where notified of the accident with the police report and all other necessary information. The other drivers insurance company had set up a rental car for me to use in the mean time.

A couple weeks pass, and on the 25th of January I receive a call from the other drivers insurance company stating that my car is no longer at Richards auto salon, and had been towed away by Grandview police. I proceeded in calling Richards Auto Salon and learned that Grandview Police had ran the VIN number on my car around 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, and towed it away for reasons unknown. I have a clean record, and did not understand what was going on. Calling the Grandview police dept, the only thing they could tell me is that Kansas City police dept had a stop order issued out for it. They could not inform me why either.

Now I've been going between Grandview police dept and Kansas City police dept, trying to get answers for a day and a half before I finally learned that The stop order was issued sometime in 2007, much before I even purchased the car. Something had happened with this car much before I owned it, but in order for me to have it released for the insurance company to pick up I have to pay for the towing fee and for the days it stayed there overnight. I spoke with the Kansas city police dept further and showed them the title for the vehicle, proving that it was registered and in my name as of August of 2008, and that I had nothing to do with what happened with the vehicle before then. The only response they gave me was to count my losses and pay the fees at the tow lot.

My Issue is why must I pay for something I had no knowledge of? My car was towed away without my, or the owner of Richards Auto’s consent. My car was not sitting on the street, it was sitting on private property when the police came and ran the VIN number at 3 AM Sunday morning. I don’t know what I am to do about the car because I do not have the money to pay to have it released. I do not know what to do about this situation and why they cannot release the car without me having to pay. This is really an injustice to me, also very inconvenient.

What is the blue book value for a 98 Ford Taurus in fair condition (155K miles)?

What is the blue book value for a 98 Ford Taurus in fair condition (155K miles)?

I live in western NY. I got into a car accident today (T-boned), but the other driver was at fault. I am not injured. My car's driver side front and rear door are smashed, the front quarter panel, side mirror, hood and front bumper. I don't know anything about auto body repair costs, but I am pretty sure that the damage costs exceeds the value of the car. This means that the other driver's insurance will pay me for the blue book value of the car, correct? Can anyone give me a bluebook estimate for the car listed above in FAIR condition? I could only find the value for excellent condition…

Question about Auto Accident and ( Unethical ? ) Doctor ?

Question about Auto Accident and ( Unethical ? ) Doctor ?

My wife was in a car accident last week and totaled her car. The other driver was cited and my wife was injured. My wife went to a scheduled appointment with our family doctor ( which was recommended by the ER ). Our doctor refused to see my wife after she was taken in to see this doctor. The doctor wrote at the top of the paper THIS PATIENT IS NOT GOING TO BE SEEN HERE after my wife sat in her office for over an hour.

I thought doctors took an oath to treat the sick and the injured ?? I'm at a loss for words, I can't believe that my wife was turned away and she is in pain !

Can anyone find any laws on this and post them so that I may be able to look into this ? The accident happened in West Virginia !

* Note : The other drivers insurance company is NOT disputing this claim, in fact, the insurance company admitted their client was at fault and also admitted their client admitted fault. The police report shows the other driver was in fact, at fault.

Thanks for your answer.

Is ESurance a Good Auto Insurance Company, Or Any Others?

I currently have Farmers Insurance and it was WAY too expensive, and plus I've had many issues with them in the past. I want to hear from people who have ESurance or any other insurance?

Also, it would be great if you can tell me how your car company handled an accident that you might have had. I'm curious how quick and well they handle accidents, thanks!

Errors on my Credit Report?

Errors on my Credit Report?

I have two questions regarding the credit report I received:

1) DFS (Dell Financial Services) has me listed as a charge off. This is correct, stuff did come up and the account was charged off. HOWEVER, this was in 2002. It is now 2010. There is a note on the credit report that says Estimated date that this item will be removed is 4/2009….can I dispute the fact that this is still here since under the fair credit reporting act they cant have this impact my credit for more than 7 years?

2) The other negative thing on my credit report is a 30 days past due from a closed auto loan account. This car was totaled in a car accident and on my end all the necessary paperwork was filed so that gap insurance/auto insurance would pay the difference of the remaining loan off. It took them a while to get the bank the money, but I was told by the insurance I was no longer responsible for the loan…but it's coming up there. The bank hassled me about making payments and I told them that the car was totaled and that insurance was to be taking care of this. Can I dispute this?

auto auto insurance Accident Question?

Undecided Question

Car Accident Question?

My son was driving my car but he was keeping insurance on it. He let his insurance expire and then backed into a car in a parking lot. The police were not called since it was on private property (store lot). The other driver turned it into their insurance. She found the most expensive body/auto dealer to take it to. $2600. Their insurance said the driver can take it anywhere they want, they pay it, and then come after the other owner. I think they could have had it fixed at a reputable repair shop a lot cheaper than a car dealer. My concern is losing my license since it was in my name and not insured. Do we have any recourse to their gouging us on the repair?

Do we have to notify about an accident to CA-DMV?

My dad had car accident before 4 days.No one was injured. But only our car's front door and side mirror was damaged. We didn't file police report. But we file a claim report to both insurance company. As it was other driver's fault their insurance company is paying for repairing directly to the auto body shop.
My question is do we have to file SR 1 form to DMV? I was wondering what DMV do with that information?Does it affect our driving record or insurance? We asked this to auto body shop's representative and he said many people don't file it.
Pls if anyone can help me out.Thanks.

Auto auto insurance: How did my premiums go up and what should I do?

Auto insurance: How did my premiums go up and what should I do?

So I got a 6 month bill to renew my auto insurance and previously, I was paying about $1200 for 6 months for 4 cars. Now, its at $2200 for 6 months. I called the insurance company and they said I had a car accident, which was not my fault, back in April 2009. They also said there was property damage claim on June 2007, which I or any of the drivers in my policy had. I question them about the June 2007 incident, and they have no data or information about it. So they kept transferring me to another person several times and putting me on hold for over 2 hours. Finally, they say they will call me back and that was over a week ago.

So I got several quotes online such as Geico, State Farm, Progressive, Travelers, etc. (all final quotes, not estimates), and they were more expensive than what I currently have. I'm guessing it has something to do with the June 2007 incident, which never happened. Or maybe it was the car accident in April 2009, which was ruled not my fault.

Who should I talk to about the erroneous June 2007 incident?

Thank you for any help you guys can give.
