Yesterday I received a letter from my auto insurance company about an accident I had more than 15 months ago. What happen during the accident was that I was making a left turn as the light has turned red for a split second, but the other person from the opposite direction sped up trying to run through the light and our cars crashed heavily. My car was pushed back for about 15ft while his car stayed at the same place. However, after the collision, we got out of the car and nobody was injured from either sides. He has another passenger with him while I was driving alone. The police and paramedic came and asked if anybody was injured, but there was no injuries so the paramedic left right away. In the police report that I received a few weeks later, there was no injuries listed in it.

In the letter they said that the other party is demanding a huge amount of money for medical bills and injuries claims. Here is what they are demanding: "Anthony XXXX demands $15,500 based on medical bills of $5738.30 and injuries include: Chest wall contusion, cervical/thoracic/lumbar sprain/strain, muscle spasm and Cervicalgia. The demand for Roxanna XXXX is $100,000 based on bills of $33,830.80 and injuries include: Lordosis, cervical/thoracic/lumbar sprain/strain, right hip and thigh sprain/strain, chest wall/rib contusion."

So what am I supposed to do with this claim? My insurance policy only has a limit of $30K. Will I be sued for the remaining amount? I'm a poor college student with no income or properties so what is going to happen if I get sued? I've been having a headache since yesterday worrying about this matter and couldn't concentrate on anything else or even stay focus during class. Please give me some advice on this matter as this was the first accident I ever had and don't have much experience on how it will be settled. Thanks for your time.

okay, last december 2005 I was involved in a minor car accident due to weather conditions, and I had to pay my auto insurance company a "500 deductible" to repair the damages that I made to my vehicle, so they had fixed it. This august of 2007, I recieve a letter from my insurance policy attorney stating that I am being sue by the plantiff of the vehicle that I hit. Why I'm being sued if I was cover by my insurance policy and the plantiff car, and is there anything I can do to defend myself. Because they should go after my insurance company if they didn't pay for the plantiff car…. not me.

I was driving down I-24 in Kentucky just outside Fort Campbell(I'm in the Army) and there was an 18 wheeler behind me. It tried to pass me, but as it was merging back into my lane, it wasn't completely ahead of me and the back corner of the trailer hit my left fender. It pushed me against the railing and then into a ditch once the railing ran out. Unfortunately, the trucker didn't stop. It just kept going. I was in shock and didn't get the license plate number or anything.

I didn't suffer any injuries, but my car sure did. My car is fully drivable, but the bumper is cracked, the muffler is hanging, the left fender is dented, the left headlight is scratched, and the driver's side mirror lens is missing.

At the time, my phone was dead and nobody would pull over to help me. So I just pushed my car out of the ditch and drove back onto base.

What do I do now? I have USAA auto insurance. I've never been in an accident before. Do I call the police or what? And will my car get repaired? Am I at fault for this? And I only have to pay my insurance deductible to get the car repaired right? I'm completely lost please help.

I got into a car accident on January 28, 2010. It was the other person's fault and he received a traffic ticket on the police report. The car I was driving is my friend's car, it was totaled. At that time I didn't go to the hospital. I told my friend's insurance company, I needed to go see doctor,because of i was on the clock while I got the accident, so I need to get worker comp. After like 2 weeks, my back shoulder was hurting me so much that I needed to go the Emergency room. I been doing therapy on my back. I been telling my manager of this regard. It was new to her, she wasn't sure the procedure is. It took her a while to find out. She filed worker comp on Feb 19,2010, but until now I still haven't receive the claim number for my medical bill yet. Will this be a problem, because of the new regulation on 2/1/2000 must be notify your carrier within 30 days? On this saturday, my car accident will reach 30 days. So I am very concern about pasting the date, that they won't cover my medical expenses.

My friend is a primary driver on auto insurance with liability only coverage and his wife is a secondary driver with learners permit license. His wife involved in car accident while backing a car from parking. The car's trunk and fence rail were damaged in the apartment community. Since no collision coverage he has to pay to replace the car trunk. He also agreed to pay to fix the rail.

-Is it better to file a claim with auto insurance for this property damage?
-If he submits the claim does it impact on his wife's learners license in anyway?
-How much insurance premium may go up because of this claim?
-Usually is there any deductible for property damage?
-The apartment asked to pay $650 to fix the fence rail (black color & approx 14ft W 4ft H) and they do not allow any other company to fix this. Asked to pay in a week. Does this sound reasonable?

i got in a accident today and damaged a mans bumper, he has 200 $ deductible , there is no damage to my truck, he said to me instead of going to autopac i could just buy him a new bumper, he priced one out at 550 bucks , so should i just go this way cause if i go threw auto pac i loose merits my license will go up more insurance , whats thee best thing to do

Just purchsed a car, never been into a car accident before.

i had a car accident back in december and my insurance settled the claims. my agent said that the other party had a lawyer lined up. i was driving an 04 malibu and the other a party (also female) was driving a small motorcycle. they had the ambulance take her away for precaution however i was told she could have walked it off. today (2/09/10) i had a call from a blocked number claiming to be the other parties insurance. they asked about my insurance and said that their client was in need of surgery. they should already have my agents number bc the claim was already settled. they also asked if i could cover a $25000 charge. i dont know much about insurance cos b/c im 17 but i dont really think that a real insurance agent can make blocked calls and ask this type of info. some one plz help??

I was involved in a car accident back in October. I wasn't at fault. I went to the hospital and was treated that day. I've recently come to learn that the other driver (who was at fault in the accident) didn't carry insurance. So, I'm stuck with a bill for 20% of my hospital note. I can't afford this. I unfortunately have no health insurance. I spoke to the hospital about my financial aid options and they simply told me they won't do anything significant for me because I carried insurance (state minimum auto.) One claims representative told me the most help they could give me was a 25% discount while another told me the most help they could give me was a 40% discount. I feel like they're pulling me in many different directions.
Now, 25 and 40 percent are a big reliefs but I still can't afford a 75 or 60 percent payment. I'm stuck against a wall as I can either pay my hospital bill or pay my mortgage. I have a family of 3 and we only make $10,000 above the poverty limit of $17,345. We live in Florida and we don't know what we can do in this situation. There must be other options for people like us.
