I was in a small fender bender last week. I had stopped because a car was stopped in the middle of a street, waiting for someone to come out of their house. After a minute, a dump truck drives away from his spot (construction at a house nearby) and hits my car. The first mistake I made was not calling the police, because it was minor, although a substantial dent to the rear left panel. The second was not taking pictures of the damage. There was no damage to the cement truck but the red paint from his cab is still on the car. So he suggested, of course he doesn't want to go through police or insurance, that I go to his auto body guy to have it taken care of. I went to get estimates from two other shops that were referred to me. I called to give him the estimates, left as a message with his brother/partner in the business. Both estimates were within $50 of each other. What I get is a call from his auto shop guy explaining the directions so I can go down there and he can take care of it. So my question is and my gut is telling me… make a report to the police and insurance. All I have is his business card, and license plate number. Now his auto shop guy can be legit, but I'm uneasy about going through him. Of course he is a good friend and does all of his collision work. I'm afraid if he does the work and it comes out botched, I'd be in a real mess. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My friend has been caught last year with registering auto insurance in PA when he actually lived in New York City. He paid a $800 fine for the first offense. He was just caught for the second time. This time he was caught with using insurance under his brother's name. What is the maxinum penatly. Whats the next step he should take. Should he speak to a lawyer immediately?

I am 9 mos pregnant on bedrest, so I had my 18 year old brother take my car to run to the store to grab a few things for me. Lo and behold he rear-ended someone, causing minor damage on both mine and the other person's car. Now he does have a license, but does not have a car, threrfore does not have insurance. Will this accident be covered under my insurance policy, or will they reject it being that my brother is not on the policy nor was I in the car?? The police came and filed a report. We are in NJ, and I have full coverage on my insurance policy. Will this be covered? I'm worried, because the baby is going to be here any day, and I cant deal with this stress right now! Please help.

Okay so I was driving my brothers car today, and had a huge car accident due to speeding. Nobody else was involved, but i smashed the whole front of the car, its completely totaled. My brother only has one way insurance and I am not listed on the policy. My question is will he get any money for the car?? Please help!!

My dad took away my brother's car privelages for a week, so now he can't get to baseball. My brother had a bit of an attitude about how much he needed in his account(my dad takes some out each time my brother's auto insurance is due) and my dad just finally said im taking it all out because of his attitude and my brother said no! or something along those lines. When I was 20 my wife(g/f at the time) and I foudn out we were having a baby. We quickly jumped into an accelerated college program (i went for business and she went for accounting) to make sure we would be able to provide for our son and be very wealthy. During the last 3 years I was working a job m-f 7:00 am- 2:30p.m and also work 4 hours saturday and 4 hours sunday. I would go to school two days a week from 5-9:30 at night and either take a saturday class or an online class. Well I got really used to the schedule and having time. I would get home on days I didn't have school spend a few hours with my son then go to the gym with my friends and my brother for 2 hours and then come home most days to spend time with my family and other times go to my friends house and just hang out a little. A perfect balance right? Well I graduated in December and a friend from school who liked my work at school was actually pretty high up in a fortune 300 company and he was able to get me a supervisor job that I started early February. Since I have started the job I have been miserable. My thoughts are very depressed. I can not help but to think how short life is and how life is going to fly by. I don't think in days I only think in years. Things I used to enjoy doing I do not get the same enjoyment or I feel I don't have the time to balance those things. The hours are 3:30 in the morning till about 4:40 or sometimes to 6:00 at night. Other hours I work are 4:45 to 3:30(which isn't that horrible) and currently I am working 3:00p.m. to 1 or 2 a.m. I will be 24 years old at the end of next month and I feel so trapped. I have been thinking about going back to school to get a Secondary Education Degree in Matematics( which is what I went to college for when i was 18 but dropped out because I was still dealing with issues from my moms death the past year). My wife wants to go to school to teach younger kids as well. Since we both already have bachelor's degrees it will take only 2 years maximum to get the education degrees. I am scared to take this chance because I do get paid pretty well( just under 50k) fresh out of college and I will get two nice raises in the first year and I am not sure if the economy will have any teaching jobs open for me when I graduate. I would work while going to school but teaching programs do not have night school. I feel that I may be also too old to make this change. One benefit I might have is that the Department Head of math, the vice principal, and a teacher of over 18 years in the math department at my old high school all said they would put their names on the line to get me a job and that math teachers are always needed. I am sure I would have the balance of time and decent pay again when i get a math teaching job. Where I am from in Illinois , math teachers start out about 45k. I really want to be happy again and enjoy life but also be able to enjoy what I do and provide for my son. By the way we live with my wifes parents. So my bills are cell phone($130/month), auto insurance on two cars($150/month), which I would bring down to one car if we went to school, rent ( $250/month), cable t.v. which I cna cancel and a gym membership I can cancel. All other bills are just food and gas and entertainment. Please give me some advice. All I hear all the time is how lucky i am to have a job and that gets really frustrating being how miserable I am. I do not have insurance yet for another month so I can't see a therapist yet either.

my parents are close to retarded, my brother is crazy and delusional and since i have a girlfriend he opposes me getting a car (jealousy) while all my friends parents bought them cars, and insurance since they were 16, all my friends parents are supportive nice and cool
but i dont ask my parents for money at all but they are so negative and dont even put me on their policy
i finally saved up enough to buy a car but my father who is pretty much retarded and never let me drive his 3000 car, is not putting me on his policy under any circumstances

so i really need help with getting insurance on my own name in new york btw im 18

ok bought a new car in oct 09 then it was stolen I made an insurance claim and they dropped me so I paid 3000 to get it fixed after that I didn't insurance back on it because I couldn't afford it at the time it was $412 a month so I finally was able to get insurance and no one would insure me had almost 8 pts I'm 23 and high risk finally my brother totaled the car and I have 17000left to pay and have not missed any payments should I tell the finance co? This just happed and it's still at the police impound he did not hit anyone I just have a fast car and he hit 3 light poles! Should I file bankruptcy? Get it off the lot? Tow it to the dealership? Tell the finance co please help what's the next steps I have no one to help

My brother in law hit a parked car that had its flashers on while driving with the company vehicle and now the plaintiff is suing my brother in law pesonally and the company for damages. The plaintiff had a suspended drivers license which also makes the auto insurance invalid. The plaintiff stated that he had no inuries at first until the police showed up and thats when he started making statements that he was injured. Will the case be thrown out?

I bought a car from my brother, and I have my boyfriend register the car and insured it. Later he got into an accident (no car was hit). My car has some damage like windshield, tires and side mirrors. The insurance told us it a total loss, so there for they can not fix it because it will cost about $5,000 to fix it. The other option the insurance give us is that they can buy the car from him, (I believe they will buy the car for more they can fix it). The question is if the insurance buy my car from him the money will go to him only. He will not give me the money for my car. I call the insurance let them know they can not tow or buy the car without my permission, because the car is my car that I bought from my brother. The insurance told me if I can prove the car under my name than they will do something about it. But the thing is the car register is not under my name but I can have my brother as a witness to write an authorized letter stating that I purchased the car from him. The problem is I’m not sure if that going to be enough.

Please tell me what my next steps. How can I get my car to be under my name? And he will not transfer the car under my name because he tries to make money of my car that he broke.

I told the insurance company I will pay the difference to fix my car. They told me that they do not do partial fix up; in other word they have to fix the whole thing with their money. It sound suspicious to me because my car should not be a total loss because all that need to be fix is two tires and the passenger mirror and sides mirror. Which I could have fixed it my self. It sound like they see that my car is worth a lot of money and they tries to buy it off so they can make a profit.
And I don’t understand how they going to buy a car more than what they say they will fix it for. (My car have full coverage).

Please help!!! What is my right?
