Get rid of PMI using Life Insurance?

I was told that if I put the mortgage company on my life insurance as a beneficiary of at least 20% of the amount of my loan then I don't have to pay PMI. Is this true and if so which banks do this?

We live in a community prop. state and my husband of 16 years changed it while he was in the hospital, ten days before his death. I do not believe he was 100% mentally stable at the time of the change.
