Stopping medication……………?

I was prescribed depakine chrono 500 mil twice daily and I was wondering what are the possibilities of stopping this medication.What should be the side effets I should be aware of.I am planning to stop this medication as in because it causes extreme weight gain.What are some mood stabilizers out there that causes weight loss instead of weight gain. I would ask my psychiatrist to consider swtching my medications.

    Talk to your doctor. They're usually willing to try different medications to find one, or a combo, that works with the fewest side affects.
