Parents, would you hire this nanny?
by admin on Mar.18, 2010, under STAYING YOUNG
Parents, would you hire this nanny?
We have some money issues in the family, but they are NOT too major. Just a few hundred dollars in debt.
I have to give up my job as a stay at home mommy, and get my license in doctoring, again.
I will be working- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, from 8:00 am- 6:00 pm. I will be working at a hospital and in the childrens intensive care unit (CICU). That is for children with major diseases and all of that. I will also be a trainer for new staffers, a surgeon, and a nurse.
My husband is a doctor, too. He will be working the same shifts. We dont want the children to be in day care, so we decided to hire a nanny. So I found a flyer in my newspaper, so I will post it on here, and please tell me your suggestions on this nanny and if I should hire her! Thanks!

NANNY!
Hi, my name is Cailey, and I am 22.
I am a nanny. I have much, much experience. I have little siblings, and I have been "Helping" my mother with the "kids" since age 2. My mother also had a daycare, with 10 children, so I have been helping there, too, since a young age. I took babysitting classes and CPR and all of it since age 12, and I have been babysitting since age 13. I have been a nanny, since age 19, so 3 years of experience in being a nanny.
I can work 50+ hours a week, for just 1 family. I will choose 1 family. I can live with you and your family, or live in my current apartment. I can accept $1,500 or more dollars a month, due to my hours I may serve.
I can work with any children. Multiples, Special Needed or just a normal. I can do as many children. I served a family for 6 months, and they had 12 children, young children.
I can take them to activities and stuff, and I will do crafts and field trips with them.
I will do the job correctly and I hope to be apart of your family.
Backround checks are acceptable, and if you want me, I will ask you many questions about the house and family and stuff!
Here is my info:

Yah, I lost interest when you said you would actually go back to work just for a "couple hundred dollars of debt." Then it got more ridiculous from there. To keep it legit: No, I wouldn't hire someone to take care of my kids that made a flyer like that. "Special Needed or just a normal." WTF is that about?

"HOW DO U DO THIS- PLEASE THIS IS PERSONAL- I AM A DUDE- MY BABYSITTER IS A GIRL- PLEASE HELP!!!?How do you poop?I am 14 and I cant. My babysitter changes my diaper!HOW HOW HOW?!?!1 week ago" You posted this ad a week ago, now this. Why are you playing around.

I would never hire someone without a one- on- one interview first. Based on what is written on her flyer I would not even call this particular girl because "and stuff" shows an amazing lack of maturity.Your schedule sounds ridiculous… a surgeon, RN, and NICU doctor! HA! What the HELL are you talking about?

She sounds like a good canidate. I am also a nanny and 1500/mo to watch 6 children really would be cheap. I would give her a few test runs and talk to her first of course. Just email her and see what she would charge you and if she thinks it might be a good fit and go from there. ALWAYS check references. Many people have hired me without checking references, I am not saying it was bad to hire me but it is definitely risky and I can't imagine some one horrible taking care of children.

Personally I would hire someone I knew if possible. However, when this isn't possible try to get references from people you know. If that doesn't work out then definitely ask her for some references. This way you can actually talk to the people she has worked with. I used to be a nanny and was hired by people who didn't know me so with this being said, she sounds very responsible. I would just rather get to meet her and talk to her first. Source(s): Mom of 2 and #3 on the way!

I would have her show proof of all this experience just in case. Personally I would be looking for someone much older and more experienced. I mean I worked a daycare for 3 years and I still can't handle 6 kids at a time. But that's just me. Ask for her CPR training card as well as any proof to show she's been working as a nanny for 3 years.Noah's mommy is right did your daughter get onto your name or something?

im a little cautious about her, especially since she doesnt know that if she started at 19 and is now 22, thats 4 years, not three, 19,20,21,22, also that theres no term "special needed", the right way to say it is with special needs. also she used the word stuff twice, im 17 and know you never use the word stuff in a job application, there are many more professional words to use. and im hiring her for child care, not to be a part of the family. also a lot of her sentences seem oddly worded like "they had 12 children, young children", why not just say "they had 12 young children", and "i can do as many children.", whats that supposed to mean? it sounds like it was written by a 10 year old. but who knows, she could just have terrible writing skills, and still be a good nanny. based on this alone, no, she seems pretty ditzy, unprofessional, and childish, also not very intelligent. but i would meet with her, do some serious background checks, speak person to person with some of her references, and then decide if i want her responsible for my children. if she seems like a good responsible nanny, id give her a shot, just dont have her help the kids with their homework. Source(s): fulltime nanny for three summers.

Sorry this sounds bogus. There is no one in the medical community that works 7 days a week on the same shift. If you and your husband are working as doctors, how can you be afew hundred dollars in debt and if you are in debt, how can you afford a 1500 nanny?
