You are fine. In fact you remind me of myself. When I was your age people always used to tell me how skinny I was, that I should eat. But I was perfectly fine! I could eat whatever I wanted without gaining any weight and I had plenty of energy, thus I was athletic.I'm 23 now and pretty much the same, although now I care about what I eat because I just want to be healthy (not for weight-loss purposes, just for general health and well-being). Keep up good eating and exercise habits for the rest of your life and you will be fine. My mum is also a little bit overweight but she has had 3 children and she stopped exercising and eating healthy when she became a mum.Don't worry. Just make a habit of eating healthy and keep exercising, you're doing well. Make sure you stay healthy forever, even when you become a mommy.

Your body can go through major changes (with the thyroid as well as the metabolism) when you have kids. Perhaps your mom had a few kids and never lost the baby weight? That's what happened to my mom but she's getting it off now. If you plan on having kids in the future (way in the future I hope :) ) just make sure to remain as healthy as possible and prior to getting pregnant start getting yourself into the best shape possible, including building muscle with weights. This will keep your body and metabolism strong and fight off the fat.Note that we create fat cells up until puberty. Since you're most likely past puberty you don't have much to worry about gaining fat cells unless you go crazy with food to get obese. You should retain your genes if you stay healthy, be conscious of your pregnancy if you plan to have kids in the future, and burn off your baby fat after any birth as soon (and healthily) as possible.Hope this helps.Cheers Source(s): Undergraduate studying health and fitness

She probably stopped exercising as much when she got older. You should just continue to excersize and eat healthy when you get older.

Does your mum keep active now? If not this could be the reason. If so, see a professional.
