Is Mom's Insurance Company Trying To Rip Her Off?

They've increased her auto insurance claiming she lives in a certain zip code. She does not. She showed them proof of zip code(utility bills, which was what they requested) but they refused to remove the increase. The zip code they claim she lives in has the highest rate of auto theft/auto vandalism in our city. Is this a rip off? BTW, mom is 82 and as she gets older the scams and attempts to cheat her become more and more common.

It is exactly what you suspect… a rip off.Go online and find her a better insurance policy and then switch. With any luck she doesn't need half the coverage she has and you can find her a suitable insurance company with a decent monthly rate.

Yes, this sounds like a ripoff. I would advise you to find the closest Office of Aging. There are many wonderful people there that can help her with this. They also offer many other services. You can probably do a google search to find them. Good Luck

Yes. Generally, that's what insurance companies do, try to find new ways to charge you more while giving you worse service.
