Question by : How do pop artists like Justin bieber and lady gaga become so popular?
I don’t get how pop artists become popular so quickly. Bands with actual talent have to get noticed by other companies through playing gigs and getting noticed which is really hard these days. Then a 13 year old Justin bieber comes out of nowhere and tops the charts. How exactly do they get popular so quickly.

Because they’re amazing. Lady Gaga has the best voice I’ve ever heard in my entire life, and Justin Beiber sounds like a young Michael Jackson.

Because their managers have a lot of money to advertise them. And a lot of the people eating up this Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber crap are just white sheep.

How do these people get noticed? They have good looks, have nice voices and attitude and courage. Then the media turns them into superstars with lots of money who end up doing drugs and get divorced thirty times.

Frankly, I’d rather be in the bands with actual talent, so my life wouldn’t be a mess after I decide to stop singing/playing/whatever.

Which bands with actual talent are you referring to,btw?(I’m just curious : D)

at first because of their fans, But now they’ve reached stardom because of the haters. Yes the haters, They don’t know how STFU so they spread their name everywhere and provide attention to them. Sometimes haters are just as annoying as the little fangirls and fanboys.

Artists need attention, be it good or bad. It makes them famous

Sex sells also of course, hence why Bieber is popular with underage girls and Rihanna/Lady Gaga with guys. Just look at Britney Spears.

The only reason is because their companies put tons of money into promoting them, with music, music videos, clothing, publicizing, movies, talk shows, posters, t-shirts, you name it. In Justin Bieber’s case, they thought he would come to the attention of many teenage girls, which is true. I for one, being a 14 year old teenage girl, don’t understand why Justin Bieber is considered to be so attractive or talented, but that’s just me. Lady Gaga, on the other hand, is just very eccentric, and therefore gains a lot of attention.

My thoughts on it…
Lady Gaga: she actually does have amazing vocal talent & is very outgoing & creative w/ her style, songs, and concerts. I think she got noticed similar to the way KISS did (I am deff NOT saying her music compares to that of band like that.. cause it doesn’t)
Justin Beiber: I have no clue. Many girls seem to think he’s cute even tho I think he’s hideous (I’m a freshman girl) I guess girls into sappy love songs maybe? I personally think he’s just a new Jesse McCartney is all

its not like pop artists are terrible. its all due to promotion, but personality is a big part of it too. “bands” with actual talent” probably are happy where they are, they know they dont need to be mainstream to be liked. catchiness in songs, and an easyness to dance to are crucial factors too.

BLAME IT ON THE YOUTH AND THE MEDIA.

If it was a matter of talent, then current bands/artists like Sundown, Exploited, Sebastian Bach, Neil Young, Casualties and Bob Dylan ‘s songs would be played over and over again by radio stations, instead of Gaga and Bieber’s shit clogging up the Billboard charts. But people hear what they wanna hear, be it shit.. or good music. Here’s a good song, it’s by the Dead Kennedys :

I’m a band lover. But I gotta admit that I actually like Lady Gaga. After I first heard about her two years ago, I decided to do some research about her. She actually writes her own songs and sings pretty well live. I also found out that she also made if big performing in small clubs and then over time, she got discovered and got more and more popular.

As for Bieber, I have no clue.

People like Lady Gaga have a lot of talent, I mean, she did go to Juliard. And also, every pop artist sort of has their “technique.” Lady Gaga doesn’t dress weirdly ONLY to express herself, for example, people remember he because of her strange fashion. Justin Bieber has the hair (which he recently cut, and lost 80,000 followers on twitter). I mean I don’t hate Justin Bieber, but he sort of got the easy way. Scooter Braun found him (BTW I really don’t like Scooter Braun) and I have to admit SB is sort of an evil genius. There are many tactics he uses to get people to remember Justin Bieber (Ex. Leaked songs, the “signature color” purple) and Justin Bieber is lucky to get Scooter.
Also, he has a large appeal to particular demographics (teenage girls.)
Not that I don’t like him, I’m a huge fan, but I don’t like how every pop artist is just like a commercial.
And, bands with actual talent deserve to be famous, but you really have to DO something. I mean if you have the world’s best voice but only sing in showers, then you can’t get anywhere. You have to really do something with the MEDIA to get you noticed.
Everything happens for a reason, and talent will only get you half way. (unfortunately.)
