Accidental damage that apple wont fix please help!?

I have had my brand new macbook (the white one with smooth edges) for not even 90 days. I spilled a drink next to my computer and picked it up immediately and got it dried off. That night it shut off and wouldnt turn back on. I sent it in and told them it had been acting funny for about two weeks which was true, and then it finally shut off and wouldnt turn on. I took the back off because it had come unscrewed and checked it out and didn't find anything. and screwed it back on. They emailed me today saying that there was a spill that leaked up from the bottom of the computer and got on the main mother board thing and they wont replace it bc i dont have a warranty. I was never asked to purchase this and now im out $900? how fair is this? does anyone know what to do! i've been crying for an hour now. i'm a single mom going to nursing school whos never broken anything in my life. please help.

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do, replacement of the motherboard may and probably will be more expensive then buying a new laptop.. And the other reason that they will unfortunately not fix it is that even if they had offered AppleCare, it is the same warranty that all computer manufacturers give, meaning that the product itself has faults. No warranty from manufacturer will cover drops or spills, the only way to get accidental coverage is by buying a laptop from a place like BestBuy who offers it. Well the warranty is for manufacturing defects, not for damage you cause or even accidental damage. There are stickers inside that change color if they come in contact with a liquid, that's how they know it's not a manufacturing defect.Maybe you can get it repaired somewhere for cheaper?

Sorry to hear about your computer. This may be to late, but two of my friends spilled liquid on their macs. The first friend tried to turn his mac on right away when it happened and he fried the motherboard. When the second friend had the spill, the first friend advised the second friend to let the computer sit for 5 days to dry. The second friend waited the five days and fortunately the computer started right up. The only drawback was a sticky keyboard, which has since been replaced. The computer is working fine. Good Luck!
