Two Co-Hosts of The View Get Married

by on Feb.29, 2012, under celeb gossip

You may know Joy Behar from her roles as talk show host on The View and The Joy Behar Show on HLN. If you know her, you know she has sworn off marriage in the past, and she even broke an engagement to long-time boyfriend, Steve Janowitz, in 2009.

In a secret, surprise ceremony on Thursday night in New York City, Behar entered into holy matrimony with Janowitz after dating for 29 years. The ceremony took place at night, and was incredibly private. Her representative has told various news outlets that she will not discuss the wedding until September 6, when she returns to The View. The date of her wedding – August 11 – is also shared with the 14th anniversary of The View and is just days before her co-host, Sherri Shepherd’s wedding in Chicago.

Shepherd’s wedding was far from private and sudden. This Saturday, her and her fianc? Lamar Sally, were married in Shepherd’s hometown of Chicago since becoming engaged in December. According to Shepherd’s Twitter feed, she was tweeting until she walked down the aisle. Her followers followed every detail of her wedding with glee. She tweeted about everything from her post-matrimonial boredom to the woes of figuring out how to use the bathroom in her wedding dress. Lucky for her, she was joined by some all-star bridesmaids, including two comediennes Yvette Nicole Brown and Niecy Nash, as well as The View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Instead of wedding gifts, the couple asked for donations to be made to Hales Franciscan High School and Embrace.

Twitter, Justin Bieber, and Branding

by on Feb.29, 2012, under celeb gossip

Its official, Justin Bieber now accounts for about three percentage of all activity on Twitter. The Guardian states that the teen pop sensation is mentioned 60 times a second, and three of every 100 tweets can end up being tracked back to him. While hundreds of businesses battle daily just to keep their Twitter accounts from turning on them, a 16 year old singer has conquered Twitter. Even experts in website design often struggle with Twitter.

Needless to say Justin Bieber’s global superstar reputation and army of pre-teen, female fans might have a thing or two to do with his enormous success on Twitter. Still, he has created an extremely effective method for using Twitter to enhance his brand. Businesses ought to think about doing the same.

The initial challenge for a brand looking to leverage Twitter is to determine if the kind of individuals who Tweet, are the type of individuals the brand is trying to engage with. Jitterbug, a business that markets mobile phones to the elderly, is not going to get very much value out of Twitter.

Brands need to make important choices about how they will depict their account’s personality. Some companies display an impersonal image, and don’t reveal who is behind their account. Other brands pick specific people to represent the brand, whether these are staff or just enthusiastic members of the Twitter online community. Brands that make use the latter method generally present an impersonal Twitter feed in addition .

A frequent mistake that companies make is taking a persona too far. Much like how a sub-par actor or actress might over perform a role as a means of compensating for a absence of depth and understanding, a company may deluge followers with trite and boring advertisements rather than provide real information. To create a enthusiastic group of followers, companies need to tweet content which is valuable and engaging, not simply spam the Twitter community with undesired promotional messages.

As an example, if a company was trying to promote the key words “web design London”, the best strategy would be to tweet entertaining content that is related to web design. Annoying followers with endless promotional slogans will only convince them to follow someone else.

The overall goal of increasing the power of a brand by means of Twitter must be achieved through hundreds of micro engagements with various other Twitter members. As a result businesses on Twitter need to decide how exactly they are going to structure these engagements. A common method is to make use of Tweets as a way of publishing relevant content or pushing certain content.

One more method is to use the social networking site to build connections with consumers and and start a larger conversation with the Twitter community. Alternatively Twitter can be s powerful listening device that provides businesses access to the insights of the more experienced. As a general rule, the best strategy is to have only one engagement approach per feed, as Twitter users appear to respond more positively to specialized feeds.

Admittedly, the previously mentioned advice won’t take a brand to Justin Bieber levels. It will, however, prevent newcomers to Twitter from killing their own popularity and brand personality before rivals get a chance.

Twitter Used For Charitable Giving

by on Feb.27, 2012, under celeb gossip

Twitter campaigns from various companies are working with social media networks to help people less fortunate, during the holidays and year round. The #TweetToFeed program may provide nearly 150,000 meals to food banks, according to the officials of the fund. All that people need to do to help is to follow @SusquehannaBank while on Twitter, and be sure to retweet a few messages. Each Tweetizen will be able to donate fifteen meals with just a few clicks.

Other food banks are also running charitable campaigns on Twitter, including some in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia and Maryland. There are physical boxes for collection as well, but the Twitter campaign has a broader appeal and has brought in more people to donate. They can reach out to people who are non-customers as well as customers, and even people who live outside their area can help. Over 2400 meals have been donated already.

Twitter has been used for charity before, too. Drew Carey pledged $1 per follower in 2009 to LiveStrong. Twitter is a quickly-expanding social network site, and it’s home to celebrities and everyday people as well. Many celebrities have helped worthwhile causes, and the everyday users have responded with open hearts.

Justin Bieber has used Twitter to tell his rabid fans about singles and albums coming out, along with sending words of sympathy or best wishes to other celebs. Justin has recently announced that he will be donating some proceeds from his newest album to a children’s hospital.

Bieber’s Acoustic album was recently released, and since he has teamed with the Children’s Miracle Network, to help the children currently under care. Bieber tweeted that he enjoys being able to give thanks to his fans and to God. He wrote one track thinking about helping other people, and feels responsible to help out in a meaningful way. He doesn’t see the point in making music if he can’t use his celebrity to help make a difference in people’s lives. His most recent album is a gift to his fans, and he is happy that the monies will go to help people out.

In Seattle, Washington, an average person named Patty Campbell had a great idea that she took to Twitter, where it is having a big impact. The idea started as sending a tweet for her arka Party? The monies raised will all go to local charities. Twitterzens are donating money to the charity of their choice, and then tweet the receipt, and that’s how you join the party.

These are just a few ways that people are making a difference on Twitter.

Top three differences between parenting sons and daughters

by on Feb.25, 2012, under celeb gossip

Unfortunately, there is no universal rulebook for parenting. Mothers are apt to treat their 12-year-old sons differently from the way fathers care for their 6-year-old daughters. In a perfect world, parenting would be a one-size-fits-all method that is applicable to children of both genders and all ages. When your 4-year-old daughter won’t eat vegetables, threatening to take away her car for the weekend would change her habits. When your teenage son makes the high school soccer team, you could celebrate with an afternoon tea party with his favorite stuffed animals. Alas, the only car a 4-year-old girl is thinking about is Barbie’s convertible, and a teenage boy is only interested in tea if there’s a chance that it’s spiked. The fact is that parenting a daughter brings a new set of rules and challenges than raising a son. If you’re the father of both boys and girls, it’s important to note the differences early to avoid disaster and embarrassment down the road. Behold, the top three activities you can do with a son, but not with a daughter. 1.) Teach her to shave – Imagine the look on your daughter’s face when you knock on her door with shaving cream and a razor. You’re more likely to get a smile by dressing up as Justin Bieber than by trying this bold tutorial. 2.) Get matching haircuts – Not many young girls are likely to go for the closely-cropped, receding hairline look nowadays. On the other hand, if you decide to match your daughter’s style, you could be the most glamorous, bedazzled dad on the block. 3.) Talk about women – It’s easy to prattle on with a teenage son about the challenges of relationships – can’t live with ‘em, can’t live without ‘em. But telling your little girl that “women are like the stock market,” may not be the healthiest message. And chances are she’s more of an expert than you anyway.

Top Six Justin Bieber Facts

by on Feb.24, 2012, under celeb gossip

Every 12-year old girl across the globe who has ever been blessed enough to gaze upon Justin Bieber’s luscious feathered locks will definitely want to brush up on his most treasured memories and secrets in preparation for that fateful day when he puts a ring on her 12 year old finger. The rest of the world with a passing interest might also want to know a little more juicy celebrity gossip about the pint-sized pop sensation just in case he ever comes up in conversation at the office. Below are the six best Biebs facts out there.

Fluent in French – Oh la la, Justin shows off his multi-culturalism with his ability to speak French with the best of them. As he grew up in Ontario, Canada, just to the west of the French Canadian province Quebec, the language probably came as second nature in the land of maple leaves and hockey.

Zodiac sign is Pisces – Born on March 1, 1994, Mr. Bieber is a Pisces. The sign of the Pisces is two fish swimming away from each other signifying internal struggle, as can clearly be heard in all of Justin’s chart topping hits.

Celebrity crush is Beyonce – The lifetime love affair with the Bootylicious one-time Destiny’s Child front woman continues and will only intensify as more and more celebrity news outlets fan the flames.

Smallville Fan – Smallville is an American TV series that centres on the larger-than-life character of Super Man. No wonder Bieber is so attracted to him. Justin may have to find another favourite soon, however, as the Smallville series is scheduled to end after the current tenth season has finished.

Discovered on Youtube – Bieber was accidentally stumbled upon by Scooter Braun while he was looking for videos of a different singer on Youtube. Braun soon tracked down Justin’s mother and convinced her to let him fly Bieber out to Atlanta, where he was signed to Usher’s record label.

Avid Football Player – What UK girl would want to date anything but an international singer/stud football player? Think of Bieber as a crossover between Justin Timberlake and David Beckham, only with a little less Posh Spice and a little more teenage angst.

And there you have it; if ever the time comes for a rousing game of inter-office celebrity gossip trivia, consider yourself an expert on the very best of Justin Bieber rumours. If you ever run into him, try a zodiac-flavoured pick up line and see if it works, although he may be too busy dreaming about all the single ladies.
